Period Stains: How to Remove Blood from Clothes, Sheets and Furniture

How to Remove Period Stains from Clothes and Underwear:


1. Rinse fresh stains under cold water or soak dry stains in cold water for 30 minutes.

2. Dab the stain with hydrogen peroxide or lemon juice.

3. Apply laundry pre-wash or enzyme detergent if necessary.

4. Machine wash on a cold cycle.

5. Air dry the item.

If the stain remains, repeat the process until it disappears.

 

How to Remove Period Stains from Sheets:

For fresh stains:

1. Strip the sheet off your bed and rinse the stain with cold water.

2. Dampen a cloth with cold water and dab the stain.

3. Submerge the sheet in cold water for 30 minutes and pour half a cup of hydrogen peroxide or lemon juice over the stain.

4. Wait 24 hours and machine wash on a cold, regular cycle.

5. Air dry the sheet.

For dried stains:

1. Submerge the sheet in cold water overnight.

2. Dab the stain with hydrogen peroxide.

3. Use a cold, wet cloth to dab the stain after 10 minutes.

4. Machine wash on a cold, regular cycle.

5. Air dry the sheet.

If the stain remains, repeat the process until it disappears.


How to Remove Period Stains from Furniture:


1. Promptly use a dry cloth to soak up as much of the spill as you can.

2. Dampen a fresh cloth with cold water and blot the stain.

3. Add a few drops of hydrogen peroxide to a new cloth and keep blotting.

4. Soak another clean cloth with cold water and use it to rinse the stained area.

5. Avoid scrubbing and repeat steps 3 and 4 until the stain disappears.
